Our Principal
Dr. Mildred Coyne has developed new and innovative approaches for workforce education, advancing the relevance and impact of workforce programs, and supporting students, business and community leaders to drive economic growth and vibrancy for more than 30 years.
Dr. Thomas Ayers
Dr. Thomas Ayers is a higher education strategist and teaching faculty member with 30+
years designing workforce-aligned programs in IT, business, and digital learning. As
Senior Director of Project Management at Broward College, he managed a $60M
federal grant spanning five years. He has also served as an Associate Dean for
Business, Director of Online Operations, Dean of Online Learning, Dean of Information
Technology, and Vice President of Education.
Tom has launched associate and bachelors degrees, competency-based pathways,
OER-based curricula, and industry credentials in business, cybersecurity, project
management, information technology, allied health, and skilled trades. He has overseen
multi-campus academic operations, quality assurance, and program scale-up from
concept through accreditation.
He holds a Ph.D. in Leadership & Education (Barry University), an ALM in Sustainability
(Harvard Extension School), a Graduate Certificate in Government Accounting (George
Mason University), and certifications including PMP, ASQ CMQ/OE, and CompTIA
A+/Network+/Security+/Project+.


Ashley Becker
Director of Program Development & Data Analytics
Ashley believes that career & technical education is an important pathway to achieving the American Dream, especially for underserved communities and at-risk youth. She has worked in higher education for more than 15 years as a professor, program developer, advisor, data analyst and grant writer.

Ashley graduated cum laude from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and earned a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Central Florida. UF cultivated her love of travel, with a study abroad program at the University of Cambridge in England. She first graduated from a community college with her AA at the same time as her high school graduation, cementing her belief that community colleges open pathways for success.

Terri Clark
Terri Clark has over twenty years of experience serving as Dean of Lifelong Learning,
Workforce Development, Adult Education, and Economic Development at higher
education institutions in Florida and Mississippi. Her experience includes managing
divisions within adult, career, and technical education; English as a Second Language
(ESOL); Integrated Education Training (IET); industry certifications; work-based
learning; apprenticeships; and customized corporate training. Additionally, Terri has
extensive experience writing, administering, and overseeing state and federal grants.


Risa Coyne
Digital Media Specialist & Content Developer
CWS’s Digital Media Specialist & Content Developer leads our end-to-end digital presence, planning, producing, and measuring content that advances employer-engaged workforce solutions. Risa collaborates with consultants and partners to translate complex workforce insights such as apprenticeships, noncredit-to-credit pathways, labor-market findings, into clear, actionable stories for employers, colleges, and funders.
